I am the Light

from Flames of War by Yar Tarvadan

lyrics

In the halls of Aurdeen, the victor's feast was laid,
All reveled in triumph, the spoils of war displayed,
The nobles of Tírgréin boasted in pride,
As the archbishop entered, a warning to provide.

Tell me now, oh king Morn,
is it faith, or is it coin
are you noble, pious man
or deceiving charlatan

Mind your words, dear archbishop!
You threaten me in front of all?
Our people paid for that land in blood.
While you sat on a shiny throne.

Not in hundred years
could Ocraine launch attack
tell me now, oh archbishop
why should I give it back?

Because such is the law
Well I am the law
The light is the law
Then I am the light!

The Archbishop implored king Morn to see reason,
And return the conquered lands to Ocraine, in a season,
But Morn's pride and greed stood in the way,
As he refused to give up his spoils of war that day.

King Morn didn't see reason
Take the archbishop to prison!
Strip him of titles and land
I will not stand his treason

Like a house of cards
as wind blows it apart
the king has crossed a line
and there is no coming back
